Dell Adds Blu-ray to Inspiron Notebook

Dell has begun selling the updated Inspiron 1525 notebook on their website. This is the laptop with an optional Blu-ray drive that can be purchased for as little as $879. The notebook features Broadcom Media Pc technology that allows systems with integrated graphics to play demanding Blu-ray titles. The award-winning Inspiron 1525 laptop features a 15.4-inch high definition wide aspect display with 720p resolution. It also includes an HDMI port for easy connectivity to high resolution displays and HDTVs.

The 1525 is also available in three colors including yellow, red and blue. Playback of HD Blu-ray titles on the 1525 is enabled by a built-in accelerator located in a mini-card slot. Dell’s Inspiron 1525 can only be ordered with integrated graphics - Intel’s GMA X3100 – in its base configuration, which some users may consider a tough compromise, especially, if they a Blu-ray burner doubles the price of the notebook. Apple release the iPhone SDK Second Beta in the market

Apple has unveiled the second beta of its iPhone software this afternoon. The second beta includes Interface Builder, Xcode IDE, Instruments, iPhone simulator, frameworks and samples, compilers, and Shark analysis tool. Free download of this software is available through the company’s Apple Developer Connection Web site. Apple already licensed Microsoft’s ActiveSync protocol to bring iPhone users e-mail connectivity on an Exchange server.

The iPhone SDK gives Microsoft the opportunity to jump on the millions of people using the iPhone without having to work with Apple, at least directly. Along with new versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch operating systems, Apple plans to release the final version of SDK in June. As Apple releases its software development kit this month, Microsoft is seen having an increased interest on the iPhone. Once the official SDK is released in June, it will be interesting to watch how unofficial iPhone development progresses.

Adobe launches Photoshop Express

On Thursday Adobe Systems opened up Photoshop Express, its long-anticipated Web-based image editor aimed at the millions of consumers that want a simple way to touch up, share, and store photos. It is a online photo editing and sharing service, which Adobe system has launched for users. While the Photoshop Express TOS is probably the result of disconnect between Adobe’s lawyers and, well, the real world; until the TOS are changed you might want hold off on uploading any images to Photoshop Express.

Adobe Photoshop Express is not likely to be meaningful to its professional Photoshop CS3 customers. The service offers up to 2 Gbytes of online storage, and that’s only one or two pictures for many serious photographers. Adobe Photoshop Express also limits uploads to 10 megabytes and 4000 pixels in height and width. Read more

Hubble discovered first Extra-Solar organic molecule

Hubble the Space Telescope has discovered the first organic molecule on a planet which is not in our solar system. On this NASA said that this breakthrough could be a major step toward discovering life on other planets. The finding comes from extra-solar planet HD 189733 b, a gaseous “hot Jupiter” locked in a tight orbit around a star 63 light-years away. HD 189733 b is one of few extra-solar planets suited for such measurements. It transits or crosses in front of its parent star every 2.2 days, blocking more than two percent of the star’s light.

Mark said that the big news is that we were able to do this at all”. David Charbonneau, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics who was not part of the team, called the detection “both persuasive and important.” Read more
